This March, join people across Dorset and the surrounding areas in going the extra mile to support people affected by prostate cancer at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity’s March for Men.
March is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, a time to highlight the disease which remains one of the most common cancers in men in the UK. More than 52,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year – that’s 144 men every day.
March for Men, taking place on Saturday 29 March 2025 at the Bournemouth Pier Approach, will bring people across Dorset and our surrounding areas together to not only raise funds for University Hospitals Dorset’s prostate health services but also to encourage open conversations about prostate health.
Whether you’re walking 5km with friends, running 10km solo or engaging in any other physical activity, every step you take and every pound you raise will support patients and families affected by prostate cancer. Your efforts will enhance prostate health services at University Hospitals Dorset, going beyond what standard NHS funding provides.
Kevin Turner, Consultant Urological Surgeon for University Hospitals Dorset’s Department of Urology, said: “Prostate cancer doesn’t just affect individuals diagnosed – it impacts entire families and communities. It is one of the most common cancers for men, and when found early, prostate cancer is more easily assessed and treated when necessary.
“The more we talk about prostate cancer, the more we can inform men and everyone about the disease. These conversations dispel myths and educate men and their families.
“Community support is always a good thing, and that’s why events like March for Men are great! We are all on the same side and working together to raise money and awareness benefits us all. Plus, March for Men is a fun day to get active and take a step together for our community!”

This year, March for Men is kindly sponsored by local businesses Spetisbury Construction and Oak Business Services. Both are proud to go the extra mile to support those impacted by prostate cancer and University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity.
Justin Ives, managing director for Spetisbury Construction, said: “Amongst so many great events, March for Men seemed to be one that was very worthy of support. It is likely that we all know someone affected by this awful disease and if we can help those trying to make a difference with our support then why wouldn’t we. Pleased to be involved.”
Glenn Prowles, director of Oak Business Services Limited, said: “We are thrilled to support University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity’s March for Men. This marks our third time sponsoring this meaningful event, and we are proud to support our local hospitals by raising awareness of prostate cancer while enhancing prostate cancer services for our community.”
Runners, walkers and cheerleaders of all abilities and ages are welcome to sign up for March for Men and help create a brighter future for those affected by prostate cancer.
Let’s come together this March to support and enhance prostate cancer services at University Hospitals Dorset while sharing stories, celebrating loved ones and making a difference for future patients.
