Robert White Centre

Robert’s legacy part funded the new Robert White Centre in Dorchester.

The facility opened in December 2019 and also includes a £1.75 million Cancer and Outpatients Department funded by Dorset County Hospital Charity.

The Centre is an extension of the Poole Hospital-based Dorset Cancer Centre and is equipped with the latest linear accelerator (LINAC), which enables patients to receive the best-possible radiotherapy treatment.

The centre has benefited patients by reducing travel time and costs for them and their families in the north, south and west of the county. These patients would otherwise have had to travel to Poole for this vital cancer treatment.

The Centre has been instrumental in significantly reducing carbon emissions and saving patients in excess of 263,600 miles (424,223 km’s), equating to a savings of a CO2 footprint of 133.0t (figures based on a medium size, petrol motor vehicle).
