Making a will is the best way to communicate your wishes about what happens to your things, so everything you have worked hard for is passed on to the people and causes that you really care for. It is easy to make a will – although we’d always recommend using a solicitor – and it is easy to make a donation to University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity in your will, which you can do in two ways:
– A pecuniary gift – is when you leave a specific amount of money – also known as a cash gift
or
– A residuary gift – after taking care of the people that you care for you can leave a share or the remainder of your estate to us. It’s less likely to be affected by inflation so the best way to ensure the value of your gift reflects your wishes.
Last year, we received over £700,000 in legacies. Some were for £500 and some people wanted to give significantly more. It all makes a difference to our patients and purchases additional equipment and training for our staff.
When you come to make your will, if you’d like to include a donation to University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity please ask your will-writer to include:
Our registered charity number: 1057366
And
Our address: University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity, Castle Lane East, Bournemouth, Dorset, BH7 7DW
Many donors like to include some extra wishes, such as a department, ward or hospital they’d specifically like to support.
