SPRING

Supporting parents and relatives through baby loss

‘The SPRING service is part of the maternity services at University Hospitals Dorset and is here to help parents and families through the worst possible time in their lives.

The aim of the SPRING service is to support bereaved families through grief at the point of loss, delivery and beyond, working closely with medical professional to help provide a high level of care, alongside regular NHS services.

SPRING is overseen by a steering group which includes bereaved parents and caring, committed professionals – all of whom are passionate about SPRING and matters surrounding baby loss. SPRING offices are based at St. Mary’s Maternity Unit at Poole Hospital and cover Bournemouth, Poole and surrounding areas.

The charity supports the SPRING service by funding:

  • Psychological bereavement support
  • Annual memorial events for families
  • Counselling rooms and service
  • The refurbishment of SPRING suite facilities
  • Memory boxes for bereaved families containing photos, prints and keepsakes
