a cts scanner in a charity hospital room

Can you help us provide access to faster treatment by helping us fund an additional CT scanner?

We are working to enhance hospital care for you and your loved ones by fundraising for an additional CT scanner for the new Emergency Department that will be in the heart of the new BEACH building at Royal Bournemouth Hospital.

I have experienced first-hand the benefits CT scanners bring to our patients. CT scanners provide a better patient experience, not only due to the low radiation dose needed to run the equipment, but they are also quieter, quicker and less claustrophobic than MRI examinations. With your donation, we can bring these benefits to even more individuals in need.

NHS funds will cover one CT scanner in the new Emergency Department, but a second CT scanner would enable our NHS staff to scan, diagnose and treat an additional 13-15,000 patients each year. We can also optimise the time of our porters by not being reliant on waiting for porter availability to take patients to the radiology department when they can be scanned right there. We can also reduce hospital admissions and minimise delays and cancellations for patients.

The high-quality imaging is beneficial in the Emergency Department as it helps our clinicians diagnose and monitor conditions, such as blood clots, trauma and strokes. However, the scanner would be used by all departments within the BEACH building. The additional CT scanner could enable patients to be selected for rapid life-changing treatments – all of which are time-critical to give the patient the best chance of an optimum outcome.

Everybody in our local community will benefit from the additional CT scanner as waiting times in the Emergency Department will be significantly reduced.

Together, we can transform care for Dorset. However, it will cost £800,000. We cannot raise funds alone.

Donate today so that we can ensure even more patients can be scanned, diagnosed and treated sooner.
