2024 Twilight Walk

By Events

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part in the Twilight Walk 2024 to support those affected by breast cancer in Dorset.

Families, friends, NHS colleagues and even some furry friends gathered at Bournemouth Pier Approach on Friday 25 May 2024, to raise funds for those receiving treatment from the University Hospitals Dorset’s breast cancer team.

It was a truly special evening as we celebrated the lives of loved ones who have faced breast cancer and the amazing NHS staff who are there for our local communities.

The total amount raised will be announced in the next 6-weeks. Every penny raised will support the breast health team at University Hospitals Dorset, improve the patient experience and help us acquire vital equipment to enhance care at our hospitals.

In the meantime, you can relive the magic of Twilight Walk 2024 by looking through these heartwarming photos. You can see more of the fantastic people who shone brightly for our community by following University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity on Instagram and Facebook.

A special thanks also goes out to Charles Thorne Photography, First Response Training and Express Security for donating services and supporting the walkers at the event.

We would also like to thank the amazing warm-up leader Emma Darling, our lovely volunteers and Oak Services for transporting event equipment. A big shout-out to our friends at Hot Radio for keeping the energy up all evening long.

If you missed Twilight Walk 2024, you can still make a huge difference for your local hospitals by getting involved in University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity’s vital fundraising work.

You can host your own fundraising events, participate in upcoming events or simply give what you can online by visiting uhdcharity.org or speak to our team by emailing UHD.Charity@uhd.nhs.uk

2024 March for Men

By Events

A huge thank you to all of our amazing supporters for joining us at March for Men 2024! It was an incredible event to help raise funds for men’s health projects at University Hospitals Dorset.

Over 170 of you came together on Saturday 9 March 2024 and marched along the seafront to show your support for the men in our community.

We were joined by Hot Radio who provided the hottest tunes and helped us warm up before setting off on our walk or run.

We want to thank our event sponsors, Oak Services who kindly supported March for Men for another year. The team at Rapid Relief generously provided water for our participants post walk or run and the 1st Response Medical team were on hand for any emergencies.

Keep an eye out on our social media pages @uhdcharity, where we will reveal the total amount raised in the coming weeks.

Once again, thank you for helping us make a difference at University Hospitals Dorset.

2023 Walk for Wards

By Events

What a fabulously-fun day out for all the family.

More than 320 people across Dorset came together to enjoy a family-friendly day out on Saturday 14 October 2023 at Upton Country Park for our flagship fundraising event, Walk for Wards.

People grabbed their wellies and walking boots on ready to walk 3km, 5km or a 10km route around the beautiful grounds, taking in the stunning scenery through the Woodlands and along Poole Bay before enjoying the locals-makers market, delicious refreshments and live music.

While the fundraising is continuing, the final amount raised will be shared in the next six weeks or so.

Thank you to everybody who walked for a ward close to their heart. Whether people walked in memory of a loved one or simply wanted to support their local hospitals while enjoying a great day out, the community spirit was amazing and it was great to hear everybody enjoying the event.

If you joined in all the action and would like to see the photos from the full gallery, please use this link and the password: Walk4wards

You may even spot yourself!

The fun doesn’t have to stop here though, we’re already excited to get into the festive spirit and hold the charity’s wonderfully jolly Elf Dash event for 2023. It is always a sell-out event so be quick to get your tickets if you are hoping to join us for some elf-fashioned fun, you can find out all about it here.

2023 Elf Dash

By Events
Thank you to all of our ELF-tastic dashers for joining us this year

Thank you to all of our ELF-tastic dashers for joining us for Elf Dash this year. The event was kindly sponsored by John Lewis, Poole, where over 200 of our amazing supporters came together for a festive-filled fundraiser for our hospital’s children’s wards. Our special guest, Father Christmas, warmed up our participants before setting off on their 2km dash along the seafront.

The elves from Haskins, Ferndown created a beautiful grotto and prepared soft toys to be hand delivered on the day by Santa himself.

Thank you to everybody involved including the Rapid Relief Team for providing a complimentary hot drink and snack and Mr Pops Balloons who created some festive themed balloon art!

Please head to our Facebook page to view the event gallery that is coming soon at: www.facebook.com/UHDcharity/
