Our Hospitals – Who We Support

University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust is based on the south coast and serves a population of over 800,000 people across Dorset including Bournemouth, Poole and Purbeck as well as the New Forest, and South Wiltshire. Our trust is comprised of three hospitals; the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, Poole Hospital and Christchurch Hospital and collectively employs more than 9,000 members of staff.

Previously, we were three separate charities – Bournemouth Hospital Charity, Poole Hospital Charity, and Christchurch Hospital NHS Charity. The now merged charity enables us to support a wider range of fundraising and provide even more support across all three hospital sites.

We work together with NHS staff to enable them to provide the best possible care for every patient and every condition that is treated at our hospitals. Make a donation today and with your help, we can fund projects which supports patients and their families at what can be a very emotional and daunting time, often during long or regular stays in our hospitals.

Over the coming years, many exciting developments will be taking place throughout our hospitals – head over to www.uhd.nhs.uk to find out more.

The Royal Bournemouth Hospital

The Royal Bournemouth Hospital provides healthcare for the residents of Bournemouth, Christchurch, East Dorset and part of the New Forest. Alongside other services, over the next few years the Royal Bournemouth Hospital will become the major emergency hospital for east Dorset.

This was previously supported by the Royal Bournemouth Hospital Charity, but is now supported by UHD NHS Charity.

Poole Hospital

Poole Hospital is an acute general hospital based on the south coast of England. The hospital has a 24-hour major accident and emergency department and is the designated trauma unit for East Dorset. Alongside other services, over the next few years Poole Hospital will become the major planned hospital for east Dorset. This is in part due to funding provided by the previous charity supporter Poole Hospital Charity and now UHD NHS Charity.

In addition, the hospital’s flagship Dorset Cancer Centre provides medical and clinical oncology services for the whole of Dorset, serving a total population of over 750,000.

Christchurch Hospital

Christchurch Hospital is a small community hospital providing outpatient and day services to the residents of Bournemouth, Christchurch, East Dorset and part of the New Forest. Some specialist services cover a wider catchment area, including Poole, the Purbecks and South Wiltshire.

Christchurch Hospital incorporates the Day Hospital which provides rehabilitation for our older population and the Macmillan Unit which provides inpatient palliative care in a warm and welcoming environment as well as rheumatology and dermatology services.
